There's usually a square or colored shape you're told to stand in when you're next to go. The attendant looks at a weight readout or green light in some cases to make sure you pass. The square you stand on before the slide is the scale.

At Wet n Wild it was especially important for all multi person rides. If your group exceeds the total weight limit the attendant will swap out people with others in line to get the total under the correct weight.

I've only ever been turned away from the black hole myself. And technically we could've waited until single riders came so we could ride with them instead of each other, but we didn't feel like waiting.

It's common at all water parks, it's just not something you notice. Just looks like the floor, with seems hidden by a red square or design. But you'll see fine print in the ride restrictions at the entrance to each slide that says individual weight limit or total weight limit per raft.
I've seen this before too on raft slides, but do you guys think for Volcano Bay they'll have scales on body slides? If they do I understand it's for safety, but that'd seem pretty embarrassing to get to the top of a water slide after waited, be weighed by a stranger, and then having to do a walk of shame down the stairs in front of everyone. I mean, 250lbs isnt that heavy for a taller person

They have scales on some of the slides here at the Rapids Waterpark in West Palm. If anyone is wanting to avoid any embarrassment you can get weighed at the first aid station and if you make weight they will give you a wrist band that signifies to the lifeguards you are under the 250lbs and able to ride. Sucks for those who are unable to ride but cam see why due to safety issues.

250 does seem low. Most at Aquatica are 300 as was said before. I believe rides with trap doors have lower restrictions because the door must safely hold the weight.

Do we know yet *which* rides the 250 lb limit is? Maybe it's just drop slides?

And the rafts will most likely have weight limits but everything else shouldn't have any.

Capsule drop slide's limit is 300, I'm over 250 and rode one this morning. I also asked and they confirmed 300 (at the park I was at). The 250 weight limit applies to tube slides both single and double (this is embarrassing but true and can speak on personal experience). The hole in the center of an inter-tube basically turns into a giant suction cup if the weight is exceeded and the rider will stop mid-slide. Weight doesn't really effect family raft slides if you're a bigger person.

I can't see that going over well at all. They could have saved their $70 and went to CityWalk.
The same could be said for those who can't fit in to the rides at the other parks.
It comes with the territory of being overweight or tall, that you need to be conscious of this going in to a theme park and read the signage and restrictions specifically before/at point of purchase, for your own wellbeing and enjoyment.

(Not trying to be insensitive here, just realistic, before anyone jumps on a politically correct high horse)

That's a good point.

I think it's best we drop this topic though before it gets an it unsavoury.

If push comes to shove, and you can't ride anything, there is always the bars and restaurants

I don't see nothing being open for opening day. The media would flip out, they're already writing articles on it possibly not being ready in time.

I mean, they would cancel the media event if that happened.

Right now Uni is definitely down to the wire. Per HTF, something won't be open at the grand opening. Hopefully those attractions join the lineup by June.

So that video clears up some things and sheds new information.
1- the waterfalls are now the same color as the top/eruption part. So red lava is clearly going to be pouring down the volcano.
2- Additionally, remember all those LEDs they installed in the giant wave pool. Dare I say the entire wave pool becomes a flowing pool of molten magma at one point during the show?
3- it appears the spotlights are blue there signaling that they can change color too? It could possibly be an optical illusion with the blue water/eruption- but if they are different colored lights, then that clears up the fact they will be used heavily during the show.
4- Notice the back of the volcano going from white to cycling through multiple colors quickly then settling on red? Is this a projection or simply a giant light (one that can also change colors like the spot lights?).

Regardless- this place is gonna be lit up like Christmas and it's clearly designed for night time as well as daytime. The first true "all day" water park that I know of.
