Heh, I'm excited for a nicely themed water park on site. But so far, I'm having trouble seeing how this is going to be all that different than BB or Typhoon Lagoon. Hope there's some surprises coming up. Maybe the two Lazy Rivers will be something over & above anything else. Otherwise, it may well be over hyped.

The only expectation I have for the park is some kind of element in the lazy river section inside the Volcano... And perhaps something similar with the "water coaster". Shliterbahn in Texas has a rather impressively themed medieval dragon themed water coaster with some dark ride-esq indoor sections. But for the most part, I expect just a well themed water park, which honestly is probably all general guests expect.

Is it wrong to think that they marketed it as a theme park before they realized they were getting the land? Now that they have, maybe they'll backtrack on that moniker.

I doubt it. The foreclosure and auction of that land was reported on as early as July of last year, shortly after Universal offically announced Volcano Bay. And I'm sure Universal was in talks soon after about acquiring the land post auction. They saw the opportunity and took it, without having to risk the price skyrocketing if they joined in the actual auction bidding. If we haven't seen them change the marketing of a "water theme park" by now, after recent billboards went up around the construction site using the term, I don't think we can expect it to change in the future.

The whole water theme park is just so that we know they are not building another wet 'n wild, most people read too much in it.

Teebin knew most of the details of the water park way way before the land purchase.

They started testing the new Virtual Queue system at Wet n Wild. Essentially you scan your band and you're given a return time to go to the ride. More details on Orl Park Pass

EDIT: I spoke too soon regarding the above! I hope this person continues to get footage and it is not just a one off!! Enjoy the close ups from on site, the volcano looks amazing that close.

What kind of camera was that, that the zoom jogs forward awkwardly like that? That must have been taken by one of the construction employees?

Shame there is no one with a drone in the area with an interest in this as they could fly over and get some nice footage....

He claims they're "helicopter" pics but I'm 95% sure they're from a DJI drone. I own a DJI Inspire and I recognize the quality/profile of the photos. Also if I'm wrong and he's flying in a helicopter he must have some cash to blow, not to mention a pilot that gets awfully low altitude to Universal.

He's posted some photos over Universal Studios as well showing Fallon and F&F, I think it's a little unbelievable they're allow a drone over the parks, particularly, Rockit but a helicopter being that low is probably even more unbelievable. I don't know what to think but his photos are great.

Cost isn't the issue nor how long each piece takes to make, it's slotting them in to a busy queue that's the problem. If they have a schedule that's packed and they stop to make room for Universal, it can mean somebody else will get delayed.

I hardly see them delaying someone else being a real issue. 90% of the waterparks they build for are only open 3-5 months out of the year. Universal is a very high profile client who intends to have a year-round waterpark up and running by next summer. IF they have to slot them in and bump another project, I almost guarantee they will.

Easy fix, if they aren't running productions 24 hours then add a 3rd shift and run Universal's pieces over night

You're right, if you have 10 clients and it takes 2 days for each client. You're not going to tell Universal to wait 20days, you're only to delay the other clients by 2 days by slotting them.

They'll find a way to make it work. Universal hasn't just ordered a slide either, they've ordered a park.

True. Other parks can open without a new attraction and finish it during the season. Volcano Bay can't open without their slides.

Even taking it a step further, ProSlide know that Universal have acquired a lot of land recently, if they ever decide to open a second waterpark, they want to be their first choice again and they need to provide a smooth experience for it to happen.
