If glass are indeed cracking, vibrations and lack of structural bending moments may have been caused this issue.

Starting to wonder if it’s even physically possible for this to open

Ride’s opening has been delayed for six months so all the Starway’s glass panels can be replaced.

I'm not even sure if we should even joke about that. I'd really hope this doesn't pose a long term risk for the both the ride and the park, especially when this seems to be on a guest facing part of the shields, and especially after how far we've come.

Knotts is almost done.

Wouldn't be surprised if Montezooma opens before Hollywood Drift soft opens.

If F&F gets a retrack before the Mummy :grinning:

At least MM got Looney Tunes land nice and finished (and right across!) to give us smth for the anniversary; I don't think Universal is going to replace Simpsons to give us a bone haha

At the way things are going, we better enjoy F&F because I could see this being the only new coaster we get this decade at the rate the other parks are going. I don’t count Monty as that was supposed to be a restoration.

Don’t know how the coaster itself could’ve done this. The coaster doesn’t touch the glass structure at all. The glass structure is also supported by its own supports and footers separate from the coaster.

The cracked portion is also above the coaster/trains at a segment where the train travels slowly over the crest.

And?

There is a winch at the top of the spike to pull a train up and release it in the event it dose valley.

Although the coasters structure and the adjacent glass structure are physically decoupled, dynamic loads from passing trains induce high frequency acoustic and structural microvibrations in the immediate vicinity. If the glazing support system was engineered for a strictly static environment lacking adequate dampening or the capacity to accommodate bending moments, these sympathetic vibrations will cause critical stress concentrations, leading to material fracture just as what you're seeing in this photo.

If this failure was caused by a localized, external physical impact, remediation requires only a simple panel replacement to resume normal operations. However, if the root cause is vibration induced fatigue(most likely) it indicates a systemic design flaw. Under these conditions, the structural integrity of the entire facade is compromised. The glass retaining supports must be comprehensively redesigned and retrofitted to absorb kinetic energy; otherwise, progressive failure of the remaining panels is highly probable over the structure's lifecycle. This may cause a delay on ride to address the issue unfortunately.

The structural glass crack probably means no good news today sadly.

I don't know if it's the angle this was shot from but there seems to be a gap in the middle of that cracked panel?

best case scenario the absolute soonest I can see softs happening is Friday. Probably will take at least a few days to fix that glass.
