Yes for right now all of this is just spec, besides this is November. It’s way too early for rumors to be popping up left and right. Once we know everything it’ll probably be by Spring.

But For Right now, we’re Hitting things on a wall that doesn’t stick.

It’s your money.

I’m just saying, nothing is confirmed until it’s confirmed.

And it’s November.

So would it be an Oddfellow solo year again? Considering the comments about them treating HHN35 as an Anniversary Year (when they confirmed the 5 originals had been written), and the cloth, wouldn’t it indicate that something funky is going on?

Or would you think it’s just a “Lol I’m cryptic” for the sake of speculation for the sake of speculation.

If I was Orlando, I’d have the general theme plan figured out for an anniversary far enough where some whispers could come out.

I don’t know. But I tend to not put a lot of credit in small “teases” that are not pushed as “official.” A cloth in a house on the last night could be a tease, but it could just as likely be wishful thinking by a team member.

The final night of 25, the final Usher performer in the Icon zone wrote “C U Next Year” in blood at the end of the night. Fans SWORE it was an official thing; Usher was obviously returning as the icon for 26. It was just a scareactor talking about themselves. It wasn’t a teaser.

HHN is no stranger to changed plans… and that includes overall themes. They’re also no afraid to “officially tease” stuff for anniversary years. The secret zone at 19… Jack appearing in the farewell video for 24… when they *know* what they’re doing for an anniversary (and they know fans are excited about it), they go for it. They let us know.

If the official social media alluded to the tapestry, then this would be a different conversation. But no one has. Not the official media… not any of design team… nothing. They typically have original concepts locked in the summer of the year prior (they work 16-18 months in advance of the year). So they may know an Oddfollow house is happening… but there’s no signs it’s a full scale Oddfellow vs Jack anniversary centered event yet.

Yeah… I’ve noticed it last year too. I honestly think the event is too long for the community where, after four weeks, the focus shifts to “what’s next” while there’s still five weeks left. Add the frequency at which so many fans go to the event creates a familiarity where we start asking for me.

It happens with new rides too.

I’m just going to sit and ponder Universal having success with an experimental IP like WWE, establishing a relationship with Amazon for Fallout, and needing something to drive a show.

Oh, look… Hazbin Hotel is available now.

Circling back to spec, was re-reading through and this caught my eye. Is Hazbin something you've actually been hearing about, or just pointing out that if Uni wanted, it's definitely viable now?

One thing I'm surprised hasn't been speculated on more:

Robert Eggers has The Werwulf out next year. They could do a fun compilation house with that and Nosferatu.

I don’t think they would do that, so far this has been wishful thinking. On an other note, who am I here to judge. We all love being delusional but, the only rumor we have Is Hellraiser at the moment.

And If I’m wrong you all can clown me

Edit: People have been craving for creature, And love that universal Monster. But some People of the general Population don’t know who Robert Eggers is.

But that can make a very scary house

I don't think this is true anymore. Nosferatu made more money at the box office than The Black Phone, and it made about as much as Insidious 5 and M3gan. It was a huge hit!

Perfect cross-promo opportunity too, although the biggest factor here is whether or not Eggers would allow it to happen (the fact that Nosferatu didn't come this year despite the fact that his movie hit it big suggests maybe not).

I definitely agree that Eggers' work is popular enough to warrant being at the event, but there are obstacles. Most notably, Werwulf will again release on Christmas day, which is too late for it to be featured next year.

As you mentioned, it is a bit murky as to whether Eggers would allow his properties to be at the event. The creative team has also seemed to prioritize their own interpretation of the Universal Monsters, rather than more recent theatrical adaptions, and works that are viewed as somewhat adjacent to them (which Nosferatu and Werwulf at least partially fall under).

If we had more directors like this featured at the event like Ari Aster, Zach Cregger, or Oz Perkins' stuff, i'd be more inclined to agree with you - but until we get there, i really truly doubt we'll ever get someone as artful as Eggers. Peele is the closest example and even then, he's more mainstream/backed by a major studio company. A24 and Neon, while releasing widely with great films, strike me as more niche/difficult to obtain for something like HHN.

I love that the show fights back at Puritan culture, so splendid and heartfelt. But I wish the songs were longer. Anyways this could be a good use as an indoor experience not a house. It has to be animated!

I only envision it as a show… ideally in Bourne but lagoon could work.

(Although… I don’t think a live adaptation is impossible…)

I'm gonna throw in my wild card and say that the original 'Scary Movie' would be a perfect fit for next year. We can't get Scream because of how much of a pain in the arse the rights are? Go ahead and get the next best thing and just make a Scary Movie maze. In order to avoid any legal issues, they can go ahead and make sure to only use the 'goofy' Ghostface masks. This would also be a perfect comedy house that would undoubtedly have some actually funny moments. With a new film also coming out, this would literally be the perfect time for this.

I know it probably won't ever happen but it'd be quite the sight to behold.

Commenting on the whole topic of the amount of discussion pre and post the event actually occurring; I think that relates to a part of the modern human condition that I'm fascinated with: we live in such a hyper fast moving world in terms of information being discovered and relayed I think we're almost chemically reactive to the idea of needing information as soon as possible. All you have to do is look at how explosive insider culture is. Every media outlet is littered with countless faces who can get you the latest scoop on whatever piece of entertainment or sport or news facet you're interested in. Film bloggers who will break down movie trailers by the nano-second so you'll know the entire movie six months before release. Sports journalists who can tip you in on who is starting four practices before game day. Etc. We crave instant information about the things we enjoy long before they're even realized.

Then the thing we enjoy is here, we enjoy it for the moment and it's gone. Then we're on to the next thing immediately.

Again, I'm just fascinated by why we're like this now. The ease of access to new information the second it's available has to be a huge reason. 40 years you'd see a single ad for the next big movie in the paper, say 'oh, that sounds fun', watching it in theaters and THAT would be the experience. Now it's almost like we live with these things for so long before they're here that the lead up becomes just as much of the experience if not more because of the time afforded to it.

Not interjecting things into anyone's perspective on the shift with regards to HHN nor am I saying they're not valid, merely commenting on how wide spread of a thing it truly is.

Moving onto the event itself, while there does seem like an obvious central focus (Icon vs Icon in an Anniversary Year), wouldn't it make common sense that anything that internalized in terms of in-house IP would be able to be kept much closer to the chest than outside IP simply due to less people being involved? I.E. as Legacy said if they wanted us to be thinking about it that much this early they'd outright say it?
