Is this the page for SDO announcements do you think?

www.gov.uk

Special Development Orders: Decisions

Planning permissions granted by means of a Special Development Order. Only applies to England.
www.gov.uk www.gov.uk

I noticed there is an option for receiving emails when the page updates.

So I’m guessing it’s now non universal consultation, so gov make the docs public and maybe local parishes might do smaller local events to make it accessible to all.

That's brilliant, thanks for sharing Rob.

So anyone can view the documents (once the consultation process opens) - can anyone comment on them too?

I'm tempted to go see them in person somewhere, just because I think that would be fascinating!

I’ve got a feeling next Thursday is going to be a busy day on here!!! :)

According to Rob’s PDF this could be the magic link for 12pm next Thursday..

I don't think local parish councils will be running consultation events as it's not their consultation to run. The planning application documents will be available online and viewable in person at three venues (the relevant government department in London, Bedford Council in Bedford, and Central Bedfordshire Council in Shefford).

The letter (pdf) implies that the government office is actually in Wolverhampton, not London. So I guess that's good for anyone north of Bedford!

Do you think there's any difference seeing them in person to seeing the online documents?

Wow, so you reckon nothing will be done locally for those who can’t get to those locations and have no internet access?

I wonder how the locals will react to that…

I’ll be checking the web next Thursday of course.

Ah, well spotted. That'll teach me to read my emails properly!

Nope, it will be the same documents online or available to consult in person. I'm guessing there will be a lot, hundreds maybe thousands of pages, much of which will be fairly technical and rather unintelligible to most of us. But I'm hoping there will be some juicy nuggets of info which will get us theme park fans salivating...

I'm especially looking forward to see if the top right corner has changes, not overly fussed about lack of IP hints. But if that top right corner is markedly different my LOTR dream still lives.

Those closest to the site will have the documents on their doorstep, in Bedford, if they don't have access to the online documents. But these days the number of people who don't have internet access is vanishingly small, even if they have to visit their local library to get help getting online. Such facilities will be available in most towns. It's true that you can't give direct access to everyone in a convenient manner, but with more and more information about planning being freely available online it's never been easier for the general public to see this information. For those that don't have internet access and are determined to see the documents in the comfort of their own home there's always the option to pay for a printed copy...

I genuinely can't explain how excited I am to pore over technical documents that would make most people's eyes glaze over, haha.

And also to watch your analysis of all the things I missed!

*Universal trademark watch*

Two new UK trademarks from Universal have appeared in the last week or so. It's probably nothing, but it's fun to speculate, and I wondered if anyone could shed some light on what they could be for.
https://trademarks.ipo.gov.uk/ipo-tmowner/page/search?domain=1&page=3&id=1432107&app=0&mark=UK00004225100

The first one is 'Bitty Chompers' and is class 28 which refers to toys and things. A quick google search didn't come up with any existing Bitty Chompers toys, but did find these Dark Universe 'Bitty Monsters'.

Dark Universe Bitty Monsters Blind Box Figure | UNIVERSAL ORLANDO

Dark Universe blind box featuring the adorable Bitty Monsters. Each box contains one mystery Bitty Monster figure. Collect all 7!<br/><br/><ul> <li>Vinyl figure</li> <li>Contains one randomly selected figure and collectible trading card</li> <li>Size range: 2 1/2" x 2 1/2"</li> <li>Imported</li>...

So could this possibly be future theme park merch, perhaps dinosaurs. Because we're getting a Jurassic section and dinosaurs go chomp? Also, random thought but there was a dinosaur character called Chomper in the Universal film 'The Land Before Time', which I also just read is being re-made (couldn't find much info except this - The Land Before Time: Chester girl, 11, cast in remake of classic), so could be to do with that.

The second one is 'Working Title' logo, class 9 and 41. Class 9 includes video media, class 41 includes entertainment services and theme park use. Working Title is the film company that was responsible for such films as Four Weddings and a Funeral, the Mr. Bean film series, Johnny English film series, Notting Hill, the Bridget Jones series, and many more. Lots of huge English classics. If it's not related, it's weird timing to trademark this right now. Why now? Suddenly I really want a Mr Bean meet and greet. Johnny English is a spy action comedy version of James Bond. Could they possibly make the stunt show a comedy stunt show with Johnny English instead of James Bond?! Or have both and Johnny English keeps getting in James Bond's way and messing things up or something.

Johnny English is an old franchise now, but I would be 100% on board with him crashing a James Bond stunt show anyway because that would be hilarious, haha.

Bridget Jones is very big at the moment, but I'm not sure how it would translate into a park attraction. Live fountain fights daily between Colin Firth and Hugh Grant lookalikes?

Little Britain had a Bitty skit but I don't think it would be appropriate although it could be a "special drink" seller that rivals Butter beer. Als a customer service center based on "Computer says no" would be hilarious.
