The only reason I want to see a F&F coaster replacement for Rocket, is because it would hasten the closing, and hopefully quick replacement, of the terrible, horrible, waste of a big space F&F attraction in SF.

I just don't see them closing Supercharged yet the way people are hoping. Say the RRR replacement opens in early-mid 2027 and they close Supercharged... And then shortly after, they are faced with the entire closure of Springfield because the Simpsons rights are up in 2028. That is a lot of lost capacity back to back with nothing really added to the park. Supercharged may be disliked by a lot, but it still is the second newest big ride in the park (behind only Minions, the DreamWorks retheme added no new rides and Bourne is a show). I sadly see Supercharged limping along until at least the "Simpsons" replacement is in place. We know Universal isn't against limping along unpopular attractions for the sake of the long game.

That being said, I think this coaster style works for a Ghostbusters attraction. With the right show scenes bookending the coaster, I think it's the best option outside of going full dark ride. I personally think what Universal is doing is utilizing the drift coaster concept over multiple parks, but with different themes. Hollywood get the F&F drift coaster. Orlando get an Ecto-1 'Ghostbusters' drift coaster. UK gets a DeLorean 'BTTF' drift coaster. Similar concepts with different themes, giving the parks there own 'exclusive rides' in a more cost effective manner.

I am all for Ghostbusters being the coaster. F&F seems like it will be done once 11 comes out next year.

The park will be fine with supercharged closed. It doesn't draw a significant crowd by any means to make an impact on crowd capacity.

But Springfield as a whole does effect capacity. With that closed they need somewhere for that many displaced people. Supercharged may not be popular, but it does still get 45+ minute lines regularly in the busy seasons. That isn't an insignificant amount of capacity when you realize the entirety of Springfield could be closed at the same time.

Not saying there won't be an impact felt, but it's not that dramatic. While I'm not the biggest fan of USF's current lineup, it has a lot of attraction capacity to absorb the loss of Furious & Simpsons. If anything, the only thing I worry about is the reduction in food & beverage capacity since FFB is a massive food outlet. But I don't think that's a big deal.

Looks like they are planning to immediately remove after close at least a couple sections of the coaster to get space for HHN with those walls.

I can't say I agree with that assessment much, but to each their own. I think a lot of personal opinions about Supercharged are clouding the fact that it's still only 7 years old and does still pull guests, especially in busy months. And Universal still built it, with no serious changes, even after the Hollywood version was lampooned and hated years prior.

But irregardless, It feels like the more about this project we learn, the more it keeps pointing to Ghostbusters as the theme. Last year when Alicia dropped the info on Ghostbusters being relicensed she talked about how a Ghostbusters attraction/ride was likely being worked on, but not as an interactive dark ride. IMO, if they are going to do it, now is the time. They have the prime opportunity with where the new buildings are going in.

Supercharged can get turned over into a new attraction fairly quicky if they utilize the building properly. It's a new build and there's no real good reason to tear it down.

Exactly, it's a new build. And it wasn't cheap. It still draws enough people when it's busy. Fans might hate it (and I really feel like that's the main driving force behind the F&F rumors) but I don't think Universal has the financial incentive to do anything yet when they have the RRR replacement going (with likely an early 2027 opening), a Springfield replacement happening in the next 2.5-3 years, not to mention all the expansions/additions happening at the other 3 parks that we've already been told are coming. Honestly, I see Lost Continent finally getting converted before we see Supercharged go anywhere.

But anyways, that's enough about another attraction that isn't RRR.

I’ll honestly be very happy if this replacement isn’t themed to Fast and Furious. I will be ecstatic if it is themed to Ghostbusters! :grinning:

I'm being genuine: somebody try to sell me on Ghostbusters being a thematic fit for a high-thrill, outdoor coaster. Make your best case.

I just don't see it! Because just slapping any fantasy/sci-fi IP on a huge coaster seems like regional theme park stuff to me.

The "beauty" (if you could call it that!) of a F&F theme... is that it basically doesn't need any theme work! Barely-themed steel through unthemed backstage areas is enough to evoke the mostly urban settings of the chases in those movies.

I mean this politely, but...

They don't need to sell you. You're mind is made up because a Ghostbusters coaster isn't a Ghostbusters dark ride.

(No, this is not a confirmation that a GB Coaster is happening)

I mean, we have an entire action sequence in the newest film of them racing around the streets of New York, in broad daylight, in chase of a ghost. Its not a new concept for the series. It may not be what you specifically want from a 'Ghostbusters' attraction, but it's not something that's thematically against the series either.

That sequence is exactly what I was thinking of to use the drift coaster concept for

Ghostbusters could be a good fit because I've stood near the firehouse and heard people call it the "Ghostbusters coaster" anyway.

During the holidays, I've also heard guests call it the Curious George coaster because of the Macy's balloon they would often put there. Another valid option. :lmao:

I can see the marketing campaign now. "Find out what happens when George gets a little too curious. Curious Drift, now open."

Ghostbusters fits better in New York, and the visual impact of an electric blue track dotting the skyline is more interesting (and would better fit in with Minions) than the inevitable dull grey or black tracks F&F would bring.
