If the rumor is true that the current ticket options are not selling great, wouldn't that make Universal a little nervous? I know crowd control is a thing, but with 3 months to go, I would not like only 30% of allotted tickets to only be sold for the first few weeks (again...if the rumors are true). To me, it would really encourage them to put the tickets they know will sale out there asap.

Oh I agree, I've said in the past Universal Creative has matched Imagineering in design and quality of new experiences... every other aspect of the resort experience (dining, entertainment, etc.) is beaten by Disney by a wide margin.

That's why I've been advocating for more well-rounded experiences for the entire family the past few years now, and that Epic alone isn't enough to guarantee a "MASSIVE BLOW" to Disney as every YouTube headline states lol (I know most of it is exaggeration to grab people's attention... but there are a few that are taking it way too seriously).

On the flip side, APs would overrun the place if left unchecked (see Aquatica's opening season). So I see the need for a plan. I just think they UOR decided to gouge their most hard-core fans (and bloggers) before announcing what that plan is.

I can't agree with you more on this. I personally believe their lack of transparency regarding annual passes (when they will be available, etc.) is a tad disheartening as a Universal fan. It it very reminiscent of SWGE's DL opening of blocking out APs in favor of an excel spreadsheet that believes that all those APs will purchase a premium priced 1-day ticket (at least Disney gave out a blockout calendar and date as to when the undesirables can return).

Feel free to disagree, but I've always believed the best approach would have been to clearly state that APs will not be allowed May-July, and to stay tuned to potential AP sales in early Fall with an temporary AP reservation system to prevent overcrowding on those first few days APs are active (or AP access after x PM for certain tiers, etc.). I would have also sold 1-day tickets first for everybody, with a "so good to be true" 3-park ticket deal that included all the dry parks at a great price point.

I hope my statement above ends up false. Just a tad annoyed at their approach to this. I suckered up to a 1-day ticket for opening day, but as avid as a fan I am, I don't intend to go again until I am allowed to upgrade my AP. I live only 7 minutes away from Epic, so Universal is missing out on all that sweet f&B spend I end up giving to the mouse.

i also would have already bought tickets if they offered more flexible ticket packages. i want a five day package that includes two days of Epic. that’s it. i’m not going to buy two separate ticket packages to make it happen.

The number of people not renewing until Epic is available for AP users has got to concern them. They make a big deal about how they love their AP holders (special merchandise, events, special parade viewing areas etc.) that dragging this too long will kill all that goodwill they have made. And unlike Disney, Universal is much more a "locals" park (not to the extend that, say, Disneyland is tho) and they don't want to lose all that $$$

Agree, even if they want to encourage multi-day visitors they should have rolled out multiple offers that are flexible. I think it's odd to convince families to visit your new park for only 1 day, but somehow expect them to spend the rest of their vacation at your existing parks/resort. USF and IOA are still great parks, but forcing people into those 2 instead of more options for the new one is an odd choice.

While we have no hard evidence of declining AP purchases (they are offering up to $100 off right now for FL residents, but that's a deal that comes and goes every other year or so), I have to imagine people have a limit for how long they're willing to wait for an Epic-inclusive AP.

I don't know if I'd go as far as saying it'll kill all the goodwill they've made, but it's definitely a thing. I heard this exact statement from multiple family members this past weekend. They're letting their passes run out next month because they didn't know when they'd be able to access Epic and weren't interested in buying separate tickets on top of their passes. They said at this point they might as well let the passes run out, wait for the initial first year crowds to die down, and then maybe get a new pass in a year or two. They also assumed that with Universal prioritizing tickets that forced people to visit the other parks as well (rather than single park EU tickets), that USF and IOA would also become overcrowded which factored into them not renewing.

Obviously, that's not my take, but it does seem to be a sentiment that's bubbling up in a portion of the general public crowd.

Totally agree. I was very surprised when UO decided to do initial tickets like this. I was sure they would offer flexible ticket options for Epic if you were staying at one of their resorts. I think how they are doing it just feels tacky.

I let my annual pass expire this year as there is nothing new for me to see at either of the two legacy parks. If I get the itch to ride Velos coaster, I'll do one of those private parks buyouts.

I have universal hotel reservations in November but if I can't buy EPIC Only tickets, I'm canceling.

If the crowds don't show up because of the way tickets are handled, Comcast will surely be terminating those responsible. They better be keeping their fingers crossed because they seem to be very stubborn and arrogant about this policy....On the bright side, park attraction lines might be fairly short on weekdays.

Tomorrow is three months from park opening. Universal likes to offer tickets and such around that time. I'd say now is the best time for Universal to open up regular single-day and multiday admission to all guests. I think if they wait too much longer they'll be on their back foot some.

I did the same thing, because i knew i wanted 2 days of USF/IOA, so the 1 day EU package made sense; But now my nails have been bitten down to the nubs waiting for them to release single day tickets so i can lock in that 2nd day of EU on the same trip!

As someone who works in the industry, i can attest to the amount of sales i've had to push off for later because the GA doesn't understand why they can't JUST get tickets to the new park yet vs. the amount of sales we've had for other operators based purely on that same frustration that they can't lock in things as soon as they'd like. I have an entire follow-up list based on people who JUST want to go to Epic but didn't like Universal's bundled package concept. I really do hope it's as close as you think it is, cause i don't think it is and it's literally affecting my job/sales performance. lol

Re-posting for perspective and transparency:
**CTA working at a Disney Award-Winning Travel Agency that doesn't even specifically only sell Disney

Echoing Jake, Codeman, David - I have reservations for August and October for myself, and over 30 for other clients who are A. Already booked for Disney and just want to go to EU for one day or B. Already booked for Universal and want to go to EU for MORE than one day.

Taylormade - Surprised is an understatement, as the GA is GENUINELY confused. I can only explain so much as a theme park nerd when it comes to UO's expectations and even then people are like, "So... when CAN i buy this?" only to be told, "I really don't know - sometime before the park opens on May 22nd." Which often results in confusion that people weren't given a 6 month window for stuff like this - ESPECIALLY on the heels of REAL-ID moving ahead with May 7th for ALL Domestic airfare. This is ME, shouting from the rooftops, that if you do NOT have a passport or REAL-ID set up and you're planning to FLY to Universal sometime this year to go to EPIC, please for the love of all that is holy, get stuff done ASAP.

I REALLY hope Joe is right and they announce things tomorrow. That would be a whirlwind for me and i'm just one agent at one agency in PA; I can only imagine the perspective of other agencies that PRIMARY in Disney/Universal sales.

I can't imagine the stress of being a travel agent at this time. Receiving calls and emails asking "are they available yet? When will they be available? How do you not know? You're a travel agent!"

I appreciate the enthusiasm and change topic almost immediately.
I mean, hey, if the intent and commitment is there, i have no problem shifting focus for things I CAN do!
Let's get a deposit down on the hotel/resort, Let's look at airfare, Let's come up with an ideal itinerary on what parks to go to on what days, etc.
The Disney clients are happy to do so.
The Universal clients can be interested at best and trepidatious at worst; And I've seen a markable increase in the latter over the last few months.

I'm not losing sleep over it, but my therapist is enjoying herself.

I know there are a lot of people with hotel only reservations during the first few weeks who are waiting to buy tickets. I have yet to come across a person who is ok with going for a whole week and only having 1 day at Epic.

I’m resigning myself to my fate of only having my opening day ticket and nothing more. I’m delusional enough to think I can do everything I want to do on day 1.

100% can confirm - does not exist within any of my current reservations/sales.
Everyone either wants ONLY EPIC or MORE EPIC.

I believe it was added as an add-on before the park opened.
