Alternate suggestion. Keep CP and NY as traditional scarezones. Use the rest of the budget to spread more lighting and decor throughout the park, and take some of the SZ cast to staff the more "empty times" of the houses.

Do we have any thoughts on if we could see Death Valley making its way over from Hollywood? Of course, we originated Dead Exposure, but the Death Valley house was very much just DE in title, not having the same story or even the signature blindness effect of DE.

If they brought it over here, one of two things would need to happen IMO:
  • If it kept the Dead Exposure name, of course it would need to have the blindness effect. Simply rewrite the story slightly to say that the facility's power is completely knocked out from nuclear testing, only occasionally flickering back on.

  • Another possibility I think would work fine: Make it a Havoc sequel! I think the setting and story of Death Valley very much felt like Havoc, plus we haven't seen the good ol' Dogs of War since 2013, it'd be cool to see them again. Or of course they could just bring it over as 'TITLE: Death Valley' as its own thing.

or just do a proper 28 days later since it could feature monkeys and a laboratory.

I'd be perfectly fine losing the San Fran zone, but that would make that area of the park pretty barren.

Just put some eerie music and the pumpkins in Central Park and I'm good

it's always so awful when we lose scarezones. look how terrible the minions area and Springfield feels. it's just awful. feels empty. feels dead.
it's really depressing to be honest.
those Springfield clowns added so much to the area. I loved them so much.
the chainsaw cheerleaders were really awesome too. ...they were great.

but I'm all for just hordes. no set pieces or props.
don't build anything big for san Francisco, just have actors in the area ( no stages like blumhouse either)
put actors in the minions area. zombies or something.....

one idea for san Francisco that I wish they did was put an old looking mental asylum van or bus, and have the escaped actors in the area wearing straight jackets and head cages like that jackal ghost from 13 ghosts movie. have all the actors look like the jackal

I think we're well into our post-asylum era at major theme park halloween events.

The event needs more life in more areas, and as much as the park isn't built to support them effectively, I think removing zones will only lead to a greater feeling of emptiness and underutilization.

I think Legacy brought up a number of years ago how USF infrastructure is built in really obtuse ways that really limit the amount that can actually be built, despite having a reasonable amount of raw space to work with. I wish areas like Central Park, San Fran, the old Klowns zone location by Transformers could be expanded to allow for better use during seasonal events, but it's probably a non-issue to the broader company and we'll probably never see it happen.

I would actually like to see them use the location by Transformers again, perhaps to tie into the food booth in Sting Alley.

I just think the event has surpassed the ability of have the traditional zones in CP and SF - but CP has such a great setup to not utilize. I'd just move the actors into a "roaming" type and keep CP with decor without actors. SF - I'd just cut to help the entrance out; from the archway to the entry area.

Yeah, I'd prefer to see a bigger focus on spooky ambience throughout the park and sprinkle in roaming hordes rather than continue to focus on "traditional" scare zones with props and the like.

Once the shine starts to wear off Villain Con/Minion Land, I'm curious if we could see that area come back as a zone.

(and of course, maybe put something on the walk back to the new tents?)

I would just remind everyone that we tried roaming hordes with more of a focus on general ambiance in 2012 when the parade debuted and severely limited scare zone decor. It was not well received.

Like others have said, I would rather scrap a scarezone or two and just have the houses better staffed. It can be frustrating to wait a long time in stay and scream and then finally get to your first house of the night and its only half staffed. But that's just me.

All they can probably do for the service road behind MIB is lighting, but I imagine it would be extremely limited.

Yeah, 2012 was just a year full of poorly executed ideas lol.

My thought was just some lighting/music/a few roaming actors. Something to break up the walk back there!

That's the place for your photo op zone. I imagine enough room here and there for mini stages.

I enjoyed that film, but I do not think it would be a good fit for the event. The subject of the movie would be far too heavy for HHN, and it's very much a psychological horror movie that lacks action scenes that could be used to fill a house.
