Well, yes. But a professional haunt shouldn't be shutting down a maze due to lack of staffing. That implies a staggering lack of competency at the managerial level.

At least give Six Flags credit for using makeup/prosthetics unlike the big movie studio we love relying heavily on masks so they don't have to hire/pay makeup artists.

Come on, man, that's not what we were talking about. And Fright Fest's makeup designs tend to be pretty underwhelming outside of a few marquee characters the artists get more resources and time for. Horror Nights hires a large team of makeup artists from a respected firm that consistently produces a lot of great looks every year.

Almost ALL the SZ scareactors are makeup/prosthetics, you can't say that about HHN at all.

You need to give credit to this event where it deserves instead of just constantly downing on it. That doesn't make an event improve.

nobody is talking about horror nights except for you.

and not only is it not incumbent on a bunch of dorks on a theme park forum to improve the event, it's also not something we can actually do. give it a rest.

Literally, the only way for anything to improve is to be critical. Things don't just magically get better due to "nice try" gestures and well wishes. I don't know why anyone would want to give FF a participation trophy, the event is actual bottom of the barrel. They need to try much harder.

You clearly have never been to Castle Dark. Now THAT is a bottom of the barrel event.

LOL I have several times actually, last time maybe 2 years ago. It's trash but it doesn't aspire to be anything special, so I grade it on a different scale.

Went last night again. Biggest unpleasant shock (if you have a Diamond Elite membership): free preferred parking now ends at 11am. If you want preferred after that, you have to pay a $15 upcharge. And nowhere is this policy change written down (in fact, the app still says you need a reservation, which they stopped doing months ago). The passholder portal says "first come, first served", but the gate and a supervisor told us they stop giving them out at 11am... despite the fact that at 4pm when we arrived, there was still plenty of parking available there.... so they sort of have to get their act together there. :confounded:

As for the park, it seemed pretty crowded. The queue for Conjuring was full even before it opened at 7pm. Since it was crowded and we get in with our membership, we didn't try to do everything. Trick 'r Treat continues to be a walk on early in the evening. Aftermath had a TON of scareactors, and they were very aggressive... a big improvement! Army of Dead had one scareactors in the entire first half, a bit disappointing. It also opened late at about 7:40. Saw had about 1/2 queue full, and ST about 1/3 full, so we decided to skip and do them again another night. Vault 666 still fine. Skipped all the rest. Can I also say how irritating it is that they insist you walk the entire queue for Condamned even though there is basically nobody in line, and they never shorten the queue? They really need to address that operation.

In general park news, Revolution continues with 2 train ops (so it had no wait!), and WW is still running 3 trains, so it was a relatively short wait as well. Superman still down. But gotta admit, the overall vibe of the park is still good. Really like the detail that the Plaza de la Murte scarezone had the scareactors yelling in Spanish, which is a great and hilarious touch. A new large mural has appeared in the Oz scarezone. And they continue to put out new merch. The Full Throttle Bar now has multiple TV screens showing the menu when you go in, which was much needed.

My Fright Fest 2024 Review

This is the order in which I went through every house
SAW: 20th
The Conjuring Universe
Stranger Things
Trick ‘r Treat
Aftermath: Nocturnal Hunt
Army of the Dead
Sewer of Souls
Willoughby’s Resurrected
Truth or Dare
Vault 666: Unlocked
Condemned Forever Damned

Wacals area closed off so everyone had to enter a scare zone to get through the park.

My experience is different than everyone else on here. I got through all 11 houses in 2 hrs 30 mins. All of the houses were available from the beginning and I didn’t deal with long lines for the new houses.

I entered the park before 7 and walked as fast as I could to get to The Conjuring house. I went SAW first because it was basically a walk line. The line was small compared to last year. SAW and Conjuring have improved this year. Conjuring still needs more scare actors for specific rooms. The best scare was at the end with the Annabelle demon. He scared two women in front of me.

I finally found ST and TrT after walking around the park twice. Stranger Things should’ve been the best house given how spacious the rooms are and there being four seasons of material to use. Not enough scare actors. Trick r Treat was fun but both houses were produced better at HHN.

Aftermath leads you to AOTD and I must say the scare actors brought their A game for Aftermath. They came through the fog and around several corners. AOTD needs more zombies and a fleshed out story for the house to flourish.

SOS and WR both were walk on houses. Scare actors tried their best to being scary for SOS but WR lacked scare actors (again).

Truth or Dare after the first couple of rooms is a complete miss. Barely any scare actors and honestly, I think they should scrap this house away. Vault 666 was cool as usual and Condemned was just okay. I do like that they got rid of the house party aspect but the house needs a reboot.

I think FFE is better than last year but they still have issues. Food is still overpriced and the parking price needs to decrease. Don’t take this event serious and enjoy the houses.

I've seen 40-50 dollars

Parking opens at an hour before the event and APs entrance opens around 30 mins before the event. While General ticket holders has to wait at the gate until opening (at least thats how they did it when I went two weeks ago)

(also if you see me say hi, I should be there when the park is opening)

The signs don't make it sound like there is one

I got an AP for next year under 200 bucks and came with a house pass each visit, but yeah while 40 bucks is a lot on paper....I will say when I went two weeks ago.....I went on some houses where it was just me...like just me in the house with scare actors. So you dont need express and all coaster I saw were walk on's

So if your not paying to get in and no parking could be worth it still.

But also some houses are understaffed on none weekend days, some houses can randomly be down as well but if you can stay until 10 PM should be able to get on every house once and a few rides.

I believe the discount is that you don't have to pay for park admission. Park entrance + maze pass starts at $70, which is $25 more than the haunted attraction pass, which starts at $45.

If you have an AP, you're essentially getting access to the park for free. That's still a reasonable price to access the event houses.

LAHH charges way more for less! And then has upcharge attractions (escape room, axe throwing, seance, zombie splat, etc) on top of whatever you paid.

With that being said, I'd be surprised if there wasn't an AP discount of some kind.

I think I'm missing something; hopefully someone can clear it up for me because it's muddied with all this "parking opens before the event," "people enter at 7" talk and I don't follow Fright Fest anymore because I haven't been in years. But we bought gold passes recently when they were only $50 and are going this Sunday with friends. We're going in the morning and were just planning on staying through to the night, just like we used to years ago, but aren't planning on doing the houses, so we're not worried about wristbands, etc.

So is it changed now from what it used to be? The park closes and everyone gets kicked out until the event starts? We were just planning on... not leaving the park, like the old days, but if the park's gonna close at, say, 5, and we have to wait two hours to get back in just to keep riding stuff, we're definitely just going to call it an early day.

I've asked many times, there is no AP discounts this year (at least, not for memberships.... but I haven't heard any for APs, either). And we did get discounts last year. So I think this is a new thing.

And yes, a wristband is $40 on top of your admission (but if you have an AP, then it's just the $40). It's $110 for Express, which strikes me as crazy, but there are a fair number of people buying it. Diamond Elite memberships have haunt passes included, for it's free for that level and up (and $70 if you wanted to upgrade to Express).

As I understand it, the park was intending to do a hard close at one point, but they decided against it. So if you are not going to do any mazes, you can just stay in the park as usual.

I will also add they have been pretty diligent about checking wristbands, at mazes both at the entrance to the queue, and just before you enter the maze. So definitely don't try to be sneaky.
