Although the coasters structure and the adjacent glass structure are physically decoupled, dynamic loads from passing trains induce high frequency acoustic and structural microvibrations in the immediate vicinity. If the glazing support system was engineered for a strictly static environment lacking adequate dampening or the capacity to accommodate bending moments, these sympathetic vibrations will cause critical stress concentrations, leading to material fracture just as what you're seeing in this photo.

If this failure was caused by a localized, external physical impact, remediation requires only a simple panel replacement to resume normal operations. However, if the root cause is vibration induced fatigue(most likely) it indicates a systemic design flaw. Under these conditions, the structural integrity of the entire facade is compromised. The glass retaining supports must be comprehensively redesigned and retrofitted to absorb kinetic energy; otherwise, progressive failure of the remaining panels is highly probable over the structure's lifecycle. This may cause a delay on ride to address the issue unfortunately.

I’m guessing a simple failure of that one panel, likely due to a defect or other issue. I can’t imagine they didn’t engineer and plan the scream shields properly, that would be a crazy blunder.

So far at least, from what we were told today. That glass panel will have ZERO effect on the opening day announcement, expected later this week, although it may push back previews a bit.

At least for the media, they say this isn’t a big deal. I’m not sure if behind the scenes it’s something different.

I just checked in with the Minions. If I understand them correctly, and I think I do, they don't know when it will open either.

Jurassic World all over again.

If we do get softs at this point, they are going to be very limited before previews start. I would also expect softs to begin on July 4th and then shut down after 15 minutes LOL

Folks, folks, we're thinking about this all wrong. Remember back in 2010 when Universal said Wizarding World would be opening in Spring and then it opened in June? Well this time they said Summer, so what they really mean is Fall. It was right there in front of us the entire time!

Didn't it open in April of 2016. I seem to remember because I was there. Last time I checked, that was Spring. And even June is Spring up until the 21st or so. So this year, summer ends on September 22, so we got time.

I was referring to Orlando's, which opened on June 18th, 2010 and was advertised as vaguely opening "Spring 2010". -and sure, if you wanna get technical about season dates, sure. But I remember reading about there being some Guest frustration because generally, visitors didn't consider June anything as Spring.

Also, it was a joke. ;)

I know you were trying to make a joke, and I get the sentiment - but June 18th was still technically Spring. Plus, the land had several weeks of previews starting in mid-May, so even though it came down to the wire, they hit their mark.

We’re only two days into summer right now - there’s still plenty of time here.

Technically, yes….but August is considered the unofficial end of summer as that’s when all of the schools go back into session. So no, they don’t have a lot of time. If this thing gets delayed into August, they’ve essentially missed their window.

Hopefully they won't have the same issue getting this up and running in Orlando.

They most likely won't. They have the major benefit of just working on flat land and not having to worry about sound barriers.

On another note, one major question that's been on my mind has been whether or not we are going to end up seeing the supercharger at the front of the Charger actually installed on the trains? The only time we ever saw the trains running through the course with them on was on the first day they were revealed and they then took all the superchargers off the lead cars and we STILL haven't seen them re-installed. I wonder if it may have something to do with weight distribution... I especially am getting worried because while they were first just testing with the open hole on the Chargers, they have now covered the hole on the hood and it seems as if it may be semi-permanent...

I was thinking about what could be holding this ride back, but the mention of the sound barriers made me think: what if the major "holdback" on this ride has been the sound testing. I can't say formally but I remember after that day they dedicated to testing the sound in the neighborhoods things seemed to slow down (? once again I can't say for certain). Just food for thought
