So despite all their dramatic narratives of "will it be done!!?" the past few weeks they've now firmly become "well, someone pass the popcorn for this shitshow."

Exactly, that security checkpoint with the fence and everything is for Team Members, that's not the guest checkpoint.

The garage is still otherwise as ugly as ever. That's the troubling part.

It's unfortunate. And pretty unprecedented for this Universal since Comcast took over. Even their last major project (Kong) was so far ahead of schedule they said summer and started it in the spring, while the mouse pushed Frozen from spring to summer.

And keep in mind this is all "best case" scenario weather here. No delaying rains at all.

I never expected it to be perfect at opening- I'm realistic. But this is certainly worse off than I thought- They appear to have bitten off a little too much unfortunately :bonk:

Regardless, I'm still stoked for the live feed to see the stuff that is ready. It's gonna be badass. But I'm more stoked that my tix are for September

Does anyone anywhere really spend money on aesthetic improvements to a garage like that? I guess Disney Springs seems a little nicer, but doesn't seem like that big a difference to me.

I think that's more for the first guest's stream, and that there will be outlets at the media day event; even though it may not be livestreamed.

Wave pool looks a little shallow to me. Even in the pics with people in it all the way to the rope looked around waist deep. Anyone else get the same feeling?

That's a good thing. The longer the shallows, the better the waves. or I should say. the better, and safer the waves- oscillation, friction, etc.. You don't want depth plus sharp gradation-then you get curling which is great for surfing or bogie boarding if close to shore. Also allows for more interesting combinations of waves if the initiation is coming from multiple angles.

The Wave Pool has a lot of potential that we haven't talked about. The other thing that hasn't been mentioned in a long, long time but just might be a dark horse for "wow" factor on Opening is the Grotto under the Volcano the Lazy River goes through.

So many guests that are looking forward to VB are not the thrill seekers that many of us are.

VB will make it's mark if things like the above make those non-thrill seeking, ambivalent to water parks guests love VB and make them want to come back (along with the food, night show/entertainment, ease of access/closeness to the rooms, etc.)

We're all so focused on the thrill offerings of VB, we've lost focus on the real reason it's there and why they built it: getting a lot of Moms and Dads to stay an extra few days at Uni to relax. For a lot of them, the lazy river, Grotto, bars, restaurants, entertainment, (and just minutes from their rooms) while the family blows up the thrill stuff until they pass out..... That's the forest while we've been critiquing the individual trees.

All good points. For old heads like me, those extras are what attract me. I may do a few non raft slides, but my knees wracked from decades of soccer (football), eliminate most of the non raft slides. And those tourist mom's and dads spend lot's of money while enjoying those extras. This will not be a Wet & Wild low spending clientele at VB.

I hope the wave pool is deeper than the resort pools, Sapphire Falls and Canbana Bay. They are only waste deep.

2 of my disks agree with your knee....

We usually go for 4-5 nights. We're going for 7 in Nov all because of VB. I'll try to ride everything I can until the back says no mas- which will probably happen by noon the first day. I'm absolutely fine with that and fine with going right back for another full day because I'm as excited for the other stuff as well, and REALLY, REALLY excited that I can walk back to the room if they want to stay.

I'm guessing we're not going to be outliers on this.

This is going to be an absolute, slam dunk, money printing, occupancy raising machine for them. I figured that out shaking my head while looking at our old BC and YC receipts when the only reason we stayed there was because of Stormalong
