well isnt the simpsons ride film itself pretty much back to the futures same story line in a different setting? I dont think they could have possibly paid any more homage than they did. I dont remember BTTF having very much theming to it to save for a tribute

not the same story at all. you were chasing the bad guy in BTTF. in the Simpsons you are being chased by the bad guy.

there still are similarities--crashing through some of the buildings in Springfield like you did in 2015, falling into hell like you used to fall into the lava, getting eaten by Maggie like you used to get eaten by the dinosaur, and the crash ending...things like that I think are what he was talking about.

You've also got to consider that these are common with that type of ride... crashing through scenery, falling into some sort of cavern possibly lava or waterfall, something big tries to eat you. Probably some of it is in homage to BttF, as you said, but IDK if I would say it is the whole ride because that is how those rides go anyways.

Very true. That is a good summary of why all simulator films are fairly similar. You want to make the most out of utilizing screens.

That being said, there is an in ride BTTF homage. At the moment when you are circiling Maggie about to become her pacifier you can notice that the area is resembling Courthouse Square, the area that was in Universal Studios Hollywood that included the clock tower courthouse.

Not what I meant but several scenes are obviously similar and obviously on purpose. flying through the donut to giant maggie is the same as the dinosaur on BTTF and going through the pirate ride is the same as the lava in BTTF etc etc. thats all I meant .

yup if you know both rides well the similarities are far from accidental

this is true, but there is a reason why you don't get eaten by something or fall into lava on Star Tours, but do on the Simpsons

Like I said not all simulator rides have those exact scenes, but you will find similarities just based on what that type of ride is capable. Though I do believe there is some through back to BttF, I wouldn't read that into the whole ride.

The Town Square scene does resemble Courthouse Square, but that is how it looks in the show anyways: http://simpsonswiki.net/wiki/File:Springfield_Town_Square.png

Yeah, all rides have similarities, lol. Hulk and DD both have inversions. Trust me, the elements being referred to in the Simpsons ride are homages, not just coincidences...I've been on a lot of simulators and the execution in the Simpsons definitely hints at BTTF

I can't tell if we are in agreement or disagreement here. But you can't go throwing roller coasters into it

I thought that was something commonly known since they were making the ride but who knows wasnt trying to make an argument. It was just that someone wanted to know if they paid any tribute to BTTF in the Simpsons ride and I kind of thought the whole thing was a tribute by the way they made the ride in the first place. Not arguing anyone elses opinion but I definitely see it when I ride it

Just wondering if anyone has full scans of some of the brochures from back in the day featuring characters like Doc Brown, ET, etc on the cover...it's surprisingly difficult to find pics/scans online! :(

This thread will never get old. I have so many fond memories of Universal over the years.

The best being my fifth grade field trip. My mom was a chaperon, and she let myself and two friends ride BTTF by ourselves, as much as we wanted. The other kids in my class were jealous. The good ole days
