I may have liked this better than the original. Spoilers out of an overabundance of caution but not really a lot to spoil:

Unlike the original this one mostly eschews comedy. While the coming attractions in the queue video are all tongue-in-cheek, in the house only the Christmas and Mummy stripper scenes are played for laughs. This is really just a hodge-podge of "cool signature scenes from IPs we'll never get." Old school HHN feel there, house-made pastiches of popular IPs. Interstellar Terror and Critters would not feel out of place here.

Not-Jaws is my personal favorite but the faux Terminators were surprisingly effective as well. The weakest links were the comedy rooms, which didn't really hit for me,

A good house but don't see it going to the next level. Not everything can be HotY tho.

Incredibly solid house that lives up to the hype of the original. It uses concepts that fit perfectly alongside the original movie lineup from 2018. It doesn't retread old ground very much at all. It purely adds to the legacy of the original with more MST3K-style genre films, "watch-bait" movie titles, and ridiculous cheese that they just didn't have the room or time to include in SS1. Tons of variety, lots of great sets and aesthetics, and a great fun vibe throughout the whole thing. They really kill it with the trailers in the facade too.

"Maniac" by Michael Sembello doesn't play in the background the whole house, so it was all a waste of time. 0/10 never running this one again. :p

Pretty delighted by Zyborgs having a Tetsuo aesthetic on top of everything

Mardi Gras Murders would also make a genuinely good house, I think.
(and also a good movie)

I think Heavy Metal Hell will end up being a house next year, and Mardi Gras Murders I can see working as a scare zone. Although I'd happily welcome a house for it.

Can't wait to see the Zyborgs. I always thought that a straight up Terminator (or a twist like this) house could be really freaky if done right

The Zyborgs poster definitely harkens back to Tetsuo, but there is one animatronic in particular during the scene that is 100% reminiscent of an antagonist from Virus.

I can see the bounty hunters returning as a Ghost Town sequel/spinoff. For now though, I do fully agree next year we could be seeing Heavy Metal or Mardi Gras return as a house.

This also feels like proof-of-concept for Jaws as an “Immersive Experience” as part of Universal Fan Fest Nights.

Finally got in here last night. Favorite house so far.

I could absolutely see Mardi Gras Murders or Heavy Metal Hell coming back - but I would absolutely love to see Blood and Chum either expanded upon, or used a test for Jaws. They're already doing experiments with AQP, why not try again?

Having experienced and enjoyed the 1st house in 2018, I was super happy for this concept to return, and this was a very fun return to say the least. Just like the 1st, it's got that nice mix of laughs and scares and a whole lotta' B-Movie cheese, plus plenty of great trailers. I had a blast in this house, and if/whenever they make a third iteration, I think it should be Slaughter Sinema 3-D as that would be pretty fitting.

Speaking of 3-D, a friend of mine was able to give me some chromadepth glasses, and it actually worked for most of the house and not just Heavy Metal Hell! Granted, HMH gets the biggest use of the effect, but almost all the posters and even some of the other scenes worked with it!

The only scenes where it really didn't was the last two scenes, so you can wear the glasses for most of the house and just take them off once you reach the Mummies.

I'm willing to bet Heavy Metal Hell or The Mardi Gras Murders gets the house treatment next year..... Heavy Metal Hell would be such a great return to 3D houses.

Hatchet and Chains is another one I'd love to see get expanded upon. Could be a very narrative-driven house. I imagine it as Ghost Town, but with demons, which sounds E P I C.

Half of the scenes I loved. Half were ehhh to me.

My order of favorite scenes:
Tier 1:
Blood and Chum - OMG THE PUPPET
Killer Kringle
Zyborg
Mardi Gras Murder

Tier 2:
Demon Bounty Hunters
Zombie Clowns
Heavy Metal Hell
Mummy Strippers

I will agree with others that I can see Heavy Metal Hell and/or Mardi Gras Murders coming back. I would love to see a Zyborgs treatment. I think that would be fun.

My favorite gags are:

the projection of the woman flashing in MGM getting immediately stabbed

Entering HMH3D through a person chain sawed in half

Our trip is over and this finished at the top of my list. I was always excited but slightly worried it wouldn't live up to the first one, but it absolutely did.

I wish there was an option to just stand outside and watch all the trailers lol

Going back to this, Monstruos also very much nips that argument with literally showing a baby be eaten alive.

Really enjoyed this - it's sitting comfortably at my #4. Never experienced the original, so can't speak for whatever it's better or not nearly as good. It's a simple premise executed well, though I maybe would've appreciated just a smidge more of a frame story -- who's running this cinema, for example? Silver Screams has Usher, All Night Die-In has The Director, HR Bloodengutz had the titular character, Cinema Slasher over at Knott's has their own take on an usher... wouldn't need to be a big through-line or anything, maybe just a screen or something in that first antechamber with some VO in the last hallway.

The scenes themselves were fairly hit or miss, which is par for the course for these kinds of houses. Liked more than I was underwhelmed by!

  • Mardi Gras Murders rules, could totally see this being expanded into a full house or zone. It's a cramped space that they made feel huge, which made for surprisingly in-your-face scares from the jesters.
  • Heavy Metal Hell 3D was fine to good. One cast had a third rocker hidden past the main vignette that displayed the exact sort of aggression Orlando actors are often missing. When they weren't there, the scene lagged.
  • I've seen Horror Nights do the messed up Christmas thing before, and this was fine. Santa and Mrs. Claus were great at the fast resets and full thrusts. Never saw the Toothy Fairy in a hat -- I mean elf after the first night, which means the rest of the scene is just a display.
  • Zombie Clowns feels like it didn't take its premise far enough, but the scares were very good. One cast is definitely beating the other in terms of intensity and fast resets. If you get that one, you're in for a treat despite the generic visuals.
  • Blood and Chum was delightful, and the puppet looked great. Loved all the great scenic on the ceiling that's easy to miss -- and that otter! They're setting the damsel/swimmer up to fail, however -- given the nature of her appearance, I totally understand she's launching in and out of that hide as quickly as possible, but it's so fast and brief that it doesn't register who she is or what's happening (made worse by the fact you haven't seen the shark yet). They should've put her on a platform across from the shark to react to, like the main punk rocker in Heavy Metal. Reuse a Dead Man's Pier diving costume for her existing hide.
  • Demon Bounty Hunters was a lot of fun. Really impressive effect with the demon wrangling, and the other cowboy/demon performers were killing it. No idea why it smells like sunscreen when you get in there, though -- am I missing something?
  • Mummy Strippers was fine. It's not scary, and it felt weird to linger in there to appreciate the details and/or performances. The scare pop mummy could be hitting harder.
  • Zyborgs is recently impressive scenically and I loved the look of the costumes, though they look like hell for the performers! The scares are hit or miss because of that, I suspect, but I did get some solid pops in here.
