I'm so tired of this...just announce it Disney

Like my god the DLR makes bank, reward you fans with whats next
First off, I think Avatar is DCA bound. They wouldn't want it to eat into Galaxy Edge's attendance.

I think the prime reason Disney is being coy about Avatar coming to DLR boils down to one word: Politics. With Disneyland Forward either a done deal or close to the finish line, maybe Disney is worried that if they were to come out and confirm that its a land or where it is going, the City of Anaheim would find something to take issue with (like the sightlines) and that could very well derail all of Disneyland Forward. Get DL Forward approved then you can announce it at D23 2024 and go from there designing a land that fits in with whatever guidelines are laid out in DL Forward.

I think you're on the right track. Future expansion is Disney's leverage in these negotiations and there's no reason for them to cede that if the deal is indeed close to the finish line.

Lol

Then why the hell did Iger talk about it?

That's my issue is the way Disney Messages stuff and is lead....Iger is paid millions and then talked about a project that "might" need government approval....just why?

Also It would be fine I guess if its apart of Disney Forward...but something also needs to be done with Hollywood land...like Disney Forward is years away so fix Hollywoodland...if not Avatar cool then announce and do something with that land its HUGE and only has Monsters Inc really as anything that draws people (yes yes the animation building is amazing but it's not drawing people )

because he's negotiating this deal in public. disney's (second) biggest strength is that locals want disneyland to build new stuff, impact to zoning or traffic be damned. their biggest strength is, obviously, being the biggest driver of economic activity in the city. it's fine if you find this annoying, but it's also how these sort of things work.

and again, california adventure doesn't suck like it did 20 years ago. it's good! it's never going to be disneyland, but it's not in dire need of anything.

They need Disneyland Forward to fix Hollywoodland as well. Anything that replaces HL has to use the transportation hub behind it and the only way that happens is to build the revived eastern gateway project which is folded into DL Forward.

While I hope they do use that land....they don't have to. But if that's the plan then....yes it will be worth waiting but if they don't use that extra space...then no idea why they are waiting

Considering how weak HL is, it makes sense to address that before taking on the Simba lot for DL Forward. Plus the Simba lot for DL Forward looks like to could hold several lands/ mini lands.

Isn't that lot for the Avengers ride?

Do we know what is going in the Hyperion Theater next?

"The "Avatar Experience" sounds like it could be a theater show. I wonder if 3D projection mapping is possible? Make it a special FX spectacular with a flying Toruk AA.

I think Rogers the Musical is coming back in January. Let me double check.

Edit: Cursory Twitter search says I made that up. :lmao: My bad.

I am going to guess than since DL Forward will be approved by the time D23 2024 rolls around in August 2024, that is where we will heard more about Avatar and other things coming to DLR.

First off wasn't Avatar rumored for WDSP replacing what would have been their Galaxies Edge? Maybe both WDSP and DCA will be getting the same land.

Next for the main E ticket instead of cloning the FOP ride system, here is a patent that looks like it could be an evolved version of the original Avengers E ticket quinjet ride system. Assuming they were able to work out the capacity problems maybe this could be used for the E ticket as a more modern version of FOP with large practical set pieces mixed with screens? Then either do a boat ride like navi or some sort of D ticket family ride where the Sunset Theater is (or both to give the land three rides) and you're good to go.

I heard CM's talking about rumors of them using Grizzly Peak as where avatar is coming for DCA

I have no issue with the water ride/Villains Groove area going away but....losing Soarin would really hurt it was the best thing from DCA 1.0 and Hollywood land....my god just please take that away

Kinda odd they would nix two original rides for something that could easily go in the Disney Forward plot. Also the park needs more things to do not less!

Also haven't heard about Villains Grove replacing Hollywoodland. You have anymore details on that or where you heard?

Rephrased I was saying the Villains Groove area/Water ride leaving would be fine with me (Villains Groove is amazing but too much space that isn't used much for a 2 months period)

It was also CM's talking about Avatar and they were saying they heard Grizzly peak is where they heard Avatar is going...but also could be just rumors spread from the internet that one CM tells another and then that "rumor" is spread through the resort and many think the rumor comes from Disney..when it's just a rumor

I also hope we don't see it happen there but time will tell. I'm just ok with Hollywood going away and this is from someone who goes on Monsters Inc and Philhare Magic almost every time I go....fun attractions but don't draw enough people to keep the land alive on its own

Avatar replacing Grizzly peak would screw with the placement of the Great Cali. That is why I am skeptical of Avatar taking over GP. Micechat, probably a much more reliable source of info than where those CMs heard that, claims Avatar will replace Hollywoodland. Hollywood land is by far the weakest area at DLR and it makes sense they would want to address that before touching the Simba lot for DL forward. But depending on what their plans are, maybe Avatar does go into the Simba lot.

How likely would it be that come D23 2024 once DL forward gets approved in April-May, that more details are revealed about what exactly this Avatar experience for DLR is, including location on where they are putting it?
