We were able to buy a ticket at Universal Hollywood and then upgrade to a pass that was blocked out that day recently. If it doesn’t work out, not the end of the world anyway.

I talked to a few people who know more about Universal AP programs than I do. Their thinking is that Universal may be more willing to do ticket-to-pass upgrades in Orlando and Hollywood because there's a pretty significant price gap between a day ticket and an Annual Pass. Universal Kids Resort's passes are already relatively inexpensive, so that might not happen in Frisco.

I also called and asked a TM. As of right now, there doesn't appear to be anything in the system that would allow a ticket to be upgraded to an Annual Pass. That could always change. UKR is a brand new thing.

The Universal Kids Resort Theme Park operates seasonally and will close to all guests on the following dates:

• Nov 2026: 3–4, 10–11, 17–18, 26
• Dec 2026: 25
• Jan 2027: 5–8, 11–15, 19–31
• Feb 2027: 1-10, 16-19, 22-26
• Mar 2027: 1, 2, 3, 9

So it will be seasonal from the start.

McReynolds shared that this was probably going to be the way they operated back in 2023. I'm pleasantly surprised that the closure isn't longer in January and February, especially after our brutal ice storm this year. While I'd love riding Cretaceous Coaster in 30-degree temps, I doubt many kids will want to join me.

I'm 6'3" and barely fit on most things at Epic. But don't forget, Universal expects parents to ride with their kids!

Hope everyone has fun! Not sure when we'll get around to visiting. I drove by on my way out of town yesterday and it looked like a lot of progress has been made in the past few weeks, especially on landscaping. Maybe in a couple of years we'll get back to it.

Not surprised on the Tue/Wed closures. I'm definitely surprised by the 1/19 - 2/10 closure. Is Peppa Pig theme park the same way? I've never truly looked. Obviously the weathe during that time is usually pretty frigid so completely understandable.

They’ve had the shrek headbands; but they’re full blown jumping into the headband and shoulder plus territory dominated by Disney and they look great.

The trolls makeover isn’t obnoxious… I’m curious how successful that part will be.

If you're visiting a park designed primarily for young children and families, especially as a solo adult carrying camera gear and filming content, it's naturally going to draw attention. Fair or not, that's just the reality of the situation.

After the first week; particularly after the first year; yeah… it’d be weird. Though I fully expect there to be some older teens there with friends (specifically the TMs and their friends) every now and then.

Don't get me wrong, I wasn't trying to insinuate that you're doing anything wrong. I was more referring to the optics that can come with it, despite having completely good intentions.

Years ago, when I was much younger, a friend and I stayed at the old Nick Hotel while covering IAAPA. We were there for a legitimate reason and doing absolutely nothing wrong, but two guys without kids hauling camera equipment around a family-focused resort drew plenty of attention from security and police during our stay.

Sometimes it's not about what you're doing, but how it looks to everyone else.
