I don't know if this deserves a thread so feel free to lock if need be. But I was wondering how you guys would compare this year's event compared to years past.

I'm not looking for in depth reviews or anything, perhaps just list the events in the past you've been to and put this year in there based on your opinions.

For example I've been to every event since 2006 soo... (# 1 being the most impressive and # 7 least impressive IMO)

1. 2008 "Reflections of Fear"

2. 2009 "Ripped from the Silver Screen"

3. 2006 "Sweet 16"

4. 2007 "Carnival of Carnage"

5. 2010 "20 Years of Fear"

6. 2012, this year

7. 2011 "Lady Luck"

Best to worst

2011- 21 The House Always Wins (worst Icon and theme)

2008- 18 Reflections of Fear

2009- 19 Ripped from the Silver Screen

2007- 17 Carnival of Carnage

2010- 20 Twenty Years of Fear

After a full night I'd actually like to change my list

6. 2011

7. 2012

Overall a lackluster year which is understandable due to the construction. But I feel like with one less house the lack of scarezones was just another nail in the coffin. And besides Gothic and Dead end the houses this year weren't all that great either. I seriously hope Uni reads this thread they need to step it up.

1. 2011 (The House Always Wins)

3. 2004 (What's Your Breaking Point?)

I'm probably the only one, but I Completely hated HHN 2010 minus Zombiegeddon and Havoc.

Serious question: Other than the layouts/walking, why is there such a hatred towards a return of HHN to Islands of Adventure. Almost everyone who attended the 2002 event has it ranked in their top 3 in this thread. Just asking as someone who hasn't attended an IOA HHN before.

Utilization of certain lands. There's only so many themes you can use on Toon Lagoon. Wizarding World.... I'm not sure of what restrictions there are on what Universal can do to as a scarezone for HP. Either way, Seuss being unusable definitely doesn't help. At Universal, you're blessed with streets that can transform to whatever scarezone they need (to an extent). That said, I know UC has toyed with bringing back to both parks so I think any future use of IOA will be seen there. Otherwise, I believe HHN will be Studios Exclusive.

IMO the event was more intense at IOA. Back then the scare zones were just over the top and worked so well within their environments. I also think the creators of HHN were being a little bit more creative back then with concepts, house locations, and offerings. Not saying everything always worked because I assure they didn't. Many people will tell you they hated the IOA years due to the crowds and lack of appropriate haunt venues. i mean some of the worst houses ever came from those years. But in the end IMO the event just seemed to be so well tied together at IOA and offered non stop scares all the way around the park, except in Suess.

The only thing that IOA has a leg up on is the use of the entrance. The walk thru PoE during 2002 & 2003 was awesome! 2004 would have been probably the best, had the electric thing-a-ma-jig worked.

Nah I disagree. Marvel, Jurassic Park, and the Lost Continent put together some amazing zones that really worked better than most of the SZ set ups at the Studios. Pair that with the thrill rides at IOA that can really take away crowds from the houses as well. My personal ideal HHN set up would include all of IOA minus Potter and production central, New York, and San Francisco at the Studios.

I didn't like the fact you had to walk all the way around the lagoon to get around the park and then over to the sound stages, seemed pretty short this year for the early entry compaired to 2005.
Potter would be a nightmare IMO I found it uncomfortable with out a capacity crowd...

IMO HHN returns to IOA and part of Universal by 2015. And without Potter by the way. I truly think Universal will keep all Potter closed in order to get people into the parks dayside during the HHN runs for the foreseeable future.
