Wanda has been banned by China from acquiring more US assets.
Which means Wall St. expects 51% of company stock to be sold (either back to the Busch family's company or to a third party). It's not a reflection of their expectations for the parks themselves.

A Busch Gardens in Texas would be interesting. DFW has the original Six Flags which is very large and one of the nicest in the chain and San Antonio has Six Flags Fiesta Texas which isn't as good but has some of the best Topography of all the chains as it's in the start of the hill country so it's built into mountains.
Then you have Seaworld, Discovery Point (Dolphins) and Aquatica in San Antonio as well. Discovery Point is nice, and the Aquatica is awesome. San Antonio is certainly the "tourist" place in Texas. 3 hrs from Houston, 4 from DFW, 1 from Austin.
And the San Antonio location has a decent amount of land surrounding it- but don't believe it's enough for a full fledged Busch Gardens. If they found a way to add that and 1 (maybe 2) on-site hotels- that would be an incredible trip. And the sea life in the park certainly doesn't bother us Texas folk
The way Seaworld utilizes Sesame Street is embarrassing. It's the worst part of the park- all concrete, terrible rides, no themeing anywhere, worn down etc. Every other area is better themed and better landscaped. So if they gave that a fully realized area in addition to a Busch Gardens park- that could be a very nice "poor mans Disney"

I have said that Disney should build a Marvel Park in the San Antonio area.
Busch Gardens Williamsburg was my favorite theme park when the Busch family/brewery ran it. Then came In Bev, Blackstone and disaster.
I don't go there anymore. ...I would love to see the Busch family get majority control of the parks again. They could fix the problem. Quality wins out.

Marvel Park there would go gangbusters. Texas and its surrounding states don't go to DL anyway- they go to WDW- where Marvel wouldn't be- so it wouldn't even canibalize.
Texas has always been an attractive market for Disney- a key reason is economic downturns rarely or minimally affect us- but even with all the speculations and meetings they've had they've just never bit off on it.

It would be a good place for a DVC as well. Galveston is a bit of a drive but there the Cruise ships there as well. I got to think that Galveston might go year round with the new ships coming.

In San Antonio, yes- DVC would be great. But Galveston would be a 4-5 hour drive depending on where in San Antonio. That's certainly not Port Can/WDW range.
Houston/Katy would be- but they've proven they can't really support a theme park- couldn't even support six flags astroworld.
San Antonio would be best.

I think Brian Morrow is a very talanted guy (I happen to love many of the attractions he has worked on) and we also must remember he is just one part of a much larger team, I would love to see what he could do with a much larger budget!
Maybe I misread the article. SeaWorld Entertainment doesn't have any other parts of the company outside of theme parks. This wouldn't be selling the theme park arm. This would be selling the entire company.
He strikes me a bit as a kid in a candy store , goes crazy with ideas etc. ... then on the other hand, the man has to work with a horribly constrained budget, so I agree with you
Was SWP&E owned by Anheuser Bush, or was it formed after Anheuser Bush sold the parks? In any case, turbulent times for Seaworld and Bush Gardens, and this just a little after they made that deal for the park in Dubai.
I believe that the company was formed after Anheuser Busch sold the parks. The company is basically Anheuser Busch's old parks division.
Busch Entertainment Corporation was the theme parks division of AB. It was spun off and became SWP&E.
Wall Street type talk (from what I've read somewhere) seems to be suggesting that Merlin might be making a play for SEAS...sometimes I think a lot of talk like this is just someone trying to push ideas...but sometimes these things seem to happen.
